How to prepare for your procedure

Insurance and payment

How payment works

We accept Medicare. With other insurance, visits are self-pay, and our team calls to explain pricing before anything is booked.

Medicare Accepted

We accept Medicare, including patients who have a secondary (supplemental) plan. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, call us before booking so we can check your plan.

Other insurance and self-pay

The practice is out of network with PPO and other commercial plans, so these visits are self-pay. Our team calls you to explain pricing and how out-of-network benefits may work.

Superbills for self-pay visits

After a self-pay visit you receive a superbill, a detailed receipt you can send to your insurance company to ask for out-of-network reimbursement.

Questions

Before your visit

Something else on your mind? Call the office at (424) 281-7392, or see all questions and answers.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept Medicare, including patients who have a secondary plan. Other insurance, including PPO and commercial plans, is out of network: those visits are self-pay, and our team explains pricing before your appointment is booked. We provide a superbill you can send to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Do I need a referral?

Original Medicare does not require a referral to see a specialist, and self-pay patients can request a visit directly. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, call us before booking so we can check your plan’s rules.

How do video visits work?

Video visits are for patients who are in California at the time of the visit. You join a secure video visit from your phone or computer. New-patient video visits are not offered the same day you ask.

Where are colonoscopies and endoscopies done?

At Specialty Surgical Center of Beverly Hills, 8670 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 300, Beverly Hills. You will need someone to drive you home after your procedure.

When should I start colorectal cancer screening?

Most adults at average risk should start at age 45. You may need to start earlier, or be checked more often, if you have a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, or symptoms such as bleeding. Read more about screening and surveillance.

Does Dr. Pimienta speak Spanish?

Yes. Dr. Pimienta sees patients in English and Spanish, and our team can help you in either language. To read this website in Spanish, choose “Español” at the top of any page.
